Vayeshev He continued living Genesis 37:1-40:23

One of the most intense bible studies I have ever participated in is The Healing Journey, written and developed by an incredible woman, Cyndy Sherwood. It is based on her own life journey out of satanic ritual abuse and so much more darkness it is just tremendous.  The bible study zeroes in on this biblical story of Joseph and all that he endured, triumphing in his being an overcomer.   Cyndy has one of the most powerful testimonies I have ever heard. It is a mind-blower how the Almighty takes such utter brokenness, delivers, heals, and empowers that very one He redeemed, using what the enemy meant for evil and use it for good…

Such as He did in Cyndys’ life, mine and millions of others throughout the ages…

But, I think I am getting ahead of the story of Joseph…

In this week’s Torah portion, we continue to read of sibling rivalry, which if brutally honest, is abuse…mental, emotional, and spiritual abuse…betrayal, abandonment, rejection…they all leave life-impacting scars…

Once Joseph’s momma passed, he was left to be reared in a very dysfunctional family. Step mothers and stepbrothers and one baby brother from his own flesh and blood parents. He was his father’s favorite son and his father did not try to hide that fact, resulting in resentment and bitterness embedded in the hearts of all his brothers…

From an early age, Joseph had a special calling on his life. Dreams were shared with his family that created even greater friction and division…deep-seated resentment already present grew muscles!

Those strange dreams did come to fruition, but much heart-rendering sorrow took place before those prophetic dreams manifested.

I am not going to go into all the details nooks and crannies of this Torah portion, I leave that to you and His Spirit to discover…

What I want to focus on this week is the truth that He is faithful…no matter your experiences in the past with your own family of origin, He saw you being knit in your momma’s womb and He already had your days numbered and He even had a bottle prepared for all the tears He knew you would cry in your journey to His heart…

That is the Mighty God we serve!

I hope you enjoy this weeks portion and gain strength in your ability to get real about your pain, and open up your heart to the One that loves you so much He was willing to send His only Son to walk on this earth, suffering the same wounding from the same kind of dysfunctional family as Joseph, Cyndy, myself and so many millions throughout the ages…He loves you so much He wants to fully deliver you and heal all your heart wounds!

Oh, yeah, by the way, Happy Hanukkah!

Shalom!

PS… I wanted to share this great article on this Torah portion! Enjoy!
